I want to share some exciting news pertaining to the Allen High School Music Program! It is such an honor for me to be able to share the following news with everyone whether you have a music student or not. Allen High School has been awarded the 2011 Grammy Signature Gold Award! Created in 1998, the GRAMMY Signature Schools program recognizes top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year. Allen High School will receive $5,500 which will be presented by the Grammy Foundation at the May 25th Eisemann Concert for AHS Bands and Orchestras. This award is a recognition of the talent and hard work of our students in the music programs at Allen High School!
As I watch these students day in and day out, rehearsing in class and on their own, when they have a spare moment, I continually see how important the Music Programs are for the growth of our (your) students as they move forward in life and do great things. This award goes to show what a fantastic Music Program we have within the Allen ISD. It begins at the Elementary level and continues on thru High School. Many of our students continue on with their music throughout their college years. We also have students who are now playing for Military Bands which I find fantastic that they can serve our country and hold on to their music as well. We are blessed to have a supportive district and community of the Arts and our students.
I hope you will take a few moments to read the article sent out by the Grammy Foundation!
