Mr. Pennington

Greetings All,

Congratulations to the Allen Band on a job well done. Yesterday’s performance was clearly the best performance of the season in spite of the weather and lengthy delays. What could have been a miserable experience for everyone turned out to be another wonderful day for the Allen Band. While we were all prepared for the inevitable rain, it was nearly impossible to predict and plan for every circumstance regarding inclement weather. After observing a day full of unexpected situations and last minute adjustments, I am more proud than ever to be a part of this awesome group. EVERY individual associated with this group, including students, parents, staff and bus drivers, exercised patience, poise and flexibility throughout the entire process. All I can say is Wow!

It was a great pleasure to hear some of the comments and stories shared by our parent volunteers. Those involving our parents helping other bands with their equipment and helping to feed members of another band that did not bring food, were especially outstanding. We were not alone, however, as I witnessed every band deal with the circumstances in much the same way. Everywhere I looked, I saw people working to make the best of a bad situation. It is another testament that the band community as a whole continues to promote and reinforce so many examples of positive human behaviors and attitudes.

To all students, “Thank You for such an awesome day!” . Your entire season has been one that you should be very proud of and your performance yesterday, was certainly a product of your outstanding efforts and attitudes. It is clear to me that you have learned so much more than just your position on the field. You were the real heroes of the day. We are all so proud of you!

While our contest season comes to a close, there is still much in store for the Allen Band for the remainder of the fall. We will continue to concentrate our efforts to support our football team throughout the playoffs and we will begin to turn our attention toward All-Region preparation. These will be great opportunities for you to showcase your talents.

Sincerely,

Charles Pennington
