Good morning students and parents! I'd like to begin by thanking all of those who participated in painting our floor this past weekend. I think it turned out great!!! A special thank you goes out to those who also gave part of their Sunday afternoon to meet and fold/move the floor! Great job kids!
Saturday we officially begin our 2010 winter guard contest season! The girls have been doing a great job to prepare for our first competition performance. I want to update/remind you of our schedule Saturday. As you veterans know, these contest days are FUN but LONG! Please note the slight change in performance time for the JV Guard:
• Varsity- meet at 7 AM at Ford Middle School in the main gym for run through/brief rehearsal
• JV- meet at 8 AM for run through/brief rehearsal
• Load the truck/bus at 9:10 AM
• Depart Allen at 9:30 (students please bring a healthy snack to eat on the bus)
• Arrive at Thomas Coliseum (6108 Broadway Ave., Haltom City, TX 76117) approximately 10:30
• JV warm up begins at 11:32 AM
• JV performs at 12:03 PM
• JV retreat (awards ceremony) at 12:45 PM
• We will go somewhere to eat lunch (students bring money for fast food)
• Varsity warm up begins at 6:07 PM
• Varsity performs at 6:41 PM
• We will go somewhere for dinner (students bring money for food)
• Varsity retreat begins at 9:40 PM
• Arrive back at Ford MS approximately midnight
Students, please remember to avoid high sugar foods/drinks until after your performance. After you perform, go for it!
For those students participating in Choir Solo and Ensemble, please make the schedule work however you need to participate in both. Just keep me posted if you will be late meeting us at Ford or if you will need to meet us at Thomas Coliseum. I wish you a great performance!
I'd also like to remind you that for various reasons we will not be competing on February 6, so enjoy your Saturday off! Our next contest will be February 27 at Aledo HS.
For this Saturday we've got enough chaperones for the bus, as well as someone to drive Matt (the floor!) and a videographer. I've got a few more floor passes available; if anyone would like to help the girls move the floor/their equipment on and off of the competition floor, let me know and I'll try to have a floor crew pass for you. If you would like to chaperone our next contest please let me know and I'll put you down.
In the event of severe weather Saturday I will contact our Captains and have them contact their squads. If you hear nothing by rehearsal time Saturday morning, you may assume that everything is going as scheduled. If you have questions, please contact your Captain.
Other information concerning performance schedules, location, etc. may be found at ntca-online.com. If you are available please do come out and support your daughters. They love knowing you are there, even if they tell you differently! :-)
I forgot to mention that we are allowed ONE person to video tape our performance from a designated area. NTCA has asked directors to share this information with parents, and violations of this rule may result in disqualification. In the past we have made the video available thru e-mail or facebook, and we will try to do the same this year.
Thank you for sharing your children with me, and for everything you do to support this program!
