Anthony Gibson

Anthony Gibson is in his seventh year as Director of Bands and Performing Arts in Allen, Texas, where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, assists with the 600+ member “Allen Escadrille,” and oversees all performing arts programs in the Allen ISD. In his 25 years of teaching, Mr. Gibson has also taught at Cooper High School in Abilene, Coronado High School in Lubbock, and Muleshoe High School in Muleshoe, Texas.

Mr. Gibson was honored as Cooper High School Teacher of the Year in 1997-98 and 2000-2001. He was named in the School Band and Orchestra, a national publication, as one of “50 Directors Who Make a Difference,” representing the state of Texas in 2000. He is a recipient of the 2002 Texas UIL Sponsor Excellence Award for interscholastic accomplishments and service. Under the direction of Mr. Gibson, the Allen Escadrille received the John Philip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield (2004), an international award recognizing marching bands of the highest quality. Mr. Gibson was inducted into the Felton F. Wagner Hall of Honor (2004) at his alma mater, Deer Park High School, for having made outstanding contributions to his community and profession. The Allen Escadrille represented the state of Texas in the 2006 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. That year he was also recognized by Texas Tech School of Music as a Distinguished Music Educator. In 2006, Mr. Gibson was guest conductor for the Allen High School Chamber Orchestra at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Mr. Gibson is a graduate of Texas Tech University and is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and Phi Beta Mu.

Mr. Gibson stays very active as an adjudicator, clinician and conductor. In the summers for the past 25 years, he directs a concert band at the Texas Tech Band and Orchestra Camp. Anthony Gibson considers his greatest accomplishments to be his lovely wife, Carren, and his two precious daughters, Christelle and Miranda.
