Jay Lester was born in Abilene, Texas, and attended Cooper High School where he played the trumpet and sang in the choir. Fond memories from his high school experience include marching in the largest 5A Band in Texas at the time, marching in the UIL State Marching Band Contest, and performing in the Rose Bowl Parade.
Mr. Lester earned a B.M. and M.M. at Hardin-Simmons University and has been a music educator for eight years. He chose this profession because he enjoys working with kids and making music. He is currently enrolled at the University of North Texas where he is working on a M.Ed. in School Administration.
Before coming to Allen, Mr. Lester taught in Odessa and Abilene. He is currently a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, and International Trumpet Guild.
Mr. Lester has other jobs that help support his family. He currently is employed as a repairman at Brook Mays Music of Frisco, a site representative for Director's Choice Music Festivals, and production manager of the Allen Philharmonic Symphony. Mr. Lester and his wife Lisa both play in the Allen Philharmonic Symphony.
He moved to Allen with his wife, Lisa, and three year old son, Michael. Since moving to Allen, they have had another son named Brian, born July 22, 2002. In his free time he enjoys hunting, travel, golf, and movies. We are glad to have him as a part of our Escadrille team!
